Victim Support:

The Service offers pre-trial, on-the-day and post-trial support, including outreach support for vulnerable and intimidated witnesses.

This includes:

  • Greeting witnesses
  • Providing court room tours
  • Explaining court procedures
  • Giving updates on the progress of the case
  • Providing emotional and practical support linked to giving evidence
  • Support may include providing information about the court and its processes and accompanying the witness (if allowed by the court) into the courtroom when they give evidence or for the reading of their Victim Personal Statement.

The Witness Service provides impartial, free and confidential support to both prosecution and defence witnesses attending criminal courts across England and Wales.
