Depending on what is said and the assessment of the evidence, they will decide what appropriate action may be taken.<\/p>\n<p>If on investigation, there is insufficient evidence to proceed, the Police have no alternative but to take \u2018No Further Action\u2019 and release the offender. This is usually when the offence is denied or a reasonable explanation is given.<\/p>\n<p>Not all offenders are dealt with in court, the police do have a number of options in dealing with minor crimes that are called Out-of-Court disposals.<\/p>\n<p>Out-of-Court disposals\u00a0allow the police to deal quickly with less serious crimes, from often first-time offenders which could be more appropriately resolved without a prosecution at court.<\/p>\n<p>The following Out-of-Court are available to the police and Crown Prosecution Service (CPS):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Community Resolutions \u2013 Adults (Aged 18+) and youths (Aged 10 -17)<\/li>\n<li>Cannabis Warnings \u2013 Adults ( Aged 18+)<\/li>\n<li>Penalty Notices for Disorder \u2013 Adults (Aged 18+)<\/li>\n<li>Youth Cautions \u2013 Youths (10 &#8211; 17)<\/li>\n<li>Simple Cautions \u2013 Adults (Aged 18+)<\/li>\n<li>Conditional Cautions \u2013 Adults (Aged 18+) and Youths (Aged 10-17)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Offenders must fully admit the offence to be in a position to be offered an Out-of-Court disposal.
