A note from the Chief Executive

As Chief Executive, I am extremely proud to lead Voice for Victims and Witnesses.

Since we commenced our service in October 2018, I have been very impressed with the dedication of staff and volunteers who all care passionately about Voice and how we collectively support victims and witnesses of crime within Northamptonshire.

We have recently moved offices and are now located in Warwick House. The move has provided numerous benefits – not least the addition of a number of onsite support rooms. It is a professional and welcoming environment where clients who have experienced trauma or crime can visit and receive the one-to-one support they need.

Our service provides adult victims and witnesses of crime with practical and emotional support, while our Children and Young People service provides support to young victims and witnesses of crime. The Road Harm team provides support to bereaved families and witnesses of fatal road traffic collisions and also to victims and witnesses who have been involved in serious road traffic accidents. We also offer a Restorative Justice service for all victims of crime. This process brings those harmed by crime – and the people responsible – into communication, enabling everyone affected by a particular incident to play a part in repairing the harm and finding a positive way forward. This can be achieved in a number of ways – for instance, a letter of apology, repair of the damage caused, or mediation.

We work with a number of partners to deliver these services, such as Assist Trauma Care, the Sunflower Centre, the Police domestic abuse team and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) to name but a few. The support we have from our partners is fantastic, and enables us to offer the best possible service to our clients who are at the heart of what we do.

Voice is a free, confidential support service for anyone affected by crime in Northamptonshire. Our services are available to anyone, whether a crime has been reported to police or not and regardless of when or where it happened – Voice is here to support and help you cope, recover and thrive.
